Te Kauri Lodge in the Waikato, is ideal for school camps. It is used by over 1400 people each year who attend school camps, environmental education programmes, research, retreats and recreation. The lodge was built by the HJNC in the 1960's and consists of two 37-bed dorms, smaller separate 4-bed rooms, and a 4-bed flat .
The lodge is fully equipped with kitchen, dining room and lounge, and contains a natural history museum.
There is a camp site 45 minutes walk from the lodge, where you may see glow worms and luminescent fresh water limpets. A toilet is available courtesy of Department of Conservation. |
